Year of the Penguin

So its seems that the old year is out and the new is in (Happy new year etc etc.) but i thought i should spend a few moments pondering the presence of a certain bird over the festive period. No, not the turkey (although there was plenty of that to go around!) but the penguin. Possibly a more appropriate bird for this time of year as they are considerably more intelligent than the turkey (or at least better dressed for the season)and made more than a passing appearance at our humble abode.













Firstly there was the penguin who decided fairies and stars were out and penguins were in and so situated itself at the top of the christmas tree. Not to mention the ones found in stockings, self hatching egg presents and the occassional appearance in the nativity scene. I can understand that with global warming we may be seeing a few more around in unusual places (not mentioning those holidaying on the beaches of South Africa)so i just thought i would give you prior warning.















So this year, consider the cute fluffy little critters and why not take it into your heart to adopt or dare i say p-p-p-pick up a penguin.
